Operation Trackshoes

On June 10 - 12, 2005, the eight students from our school's Access Program participated in Operation Trackshoes - an Annual Sports Festival for the citizens of British Columbia who have disabilities. Held at the University of Victoria, it includes a full-length competitive track and field meet, events for wheelchair users, and many other fun and recreational events as well. The students who had the privilege of attending this event had a spectacular time, they participated in events such as the high jump, shot put, tug of war, 25m swim, 400/1500m race, and many more. Among those eight students who participated was Daniel Ko, who received an award for Best Overall Male Sportsmanship. Operation Trackshoes provides a safe and supportive environment for integration of people with and without disabilities as well as promoting awareness and respect for those of all abilities. Through Operation Trackshoes, many friendships- have been made, many @ smiles have been brought to people's faces, and many cheers and laughter have marked the joys of accomplishment.
