2017 DRY GRAD EVENT
According to ICBC, “four youths are killed and 1,140 injured in crashes during grad season in May and June every year in BC”. Dry Grad is an initiative that tries to protect teens from this statistic. Dry Grad is a party organized by parents and student volunteers for grads to attend after the prom. It is “dry”, meaning no alcohol or drugs are allowed. It is a safe and inclusive alternative to private after-grad celebrations which can involve alcohol and drugs. Safety is especially pertinent as we hear about drug overdoses regularly on the news.
This year the Moscrop Dry Grad Committee is holding the event at 6Pack Indoor Beach. It is an indoor sand volleyball facility where grads can participate in activities such as beach volleyball and soccer, temporary tattoos, crafts, dancing, archery1, photo booth, tug of war and dodgeball. There will also be many sitting areas where grads can relax and enjoy food and beverages with their friends. Because of the expense involved, we hope to sell 100 tickets by January 20. If ticket sales fall short we will cancel the event and return all funds. We are counting on your support.
